Off The Record - Volume #019 - mixed by Drokkr

Off The Record - Volume #019
mixed by Drokkr

Drokkr has put together a mix that carries the vibe of his live sets while taking us on a journey through the sounds that mean most to him. All angles of dubstep can be found within this mix, from the dubbier side to the more bass-driven sounds. But this is far from your run of the mill dubstep mix with more minimal and seemingly techno-influenced sounds mixed in throughout. Not content with being confined to any sort of category, Drokkr takes things to more grimey territory toward the end. Keeping the pace lively and showcasing his favourite tracks this mix makes for an amazing listen with sounds that represent their respective genres to the fullest.

Off The Record - Volume #018 - mixed by Ian Macq

Off The Record - Volume #018
mixed by Ian Macq

This weeks dj can be found playing everything from acid/disco/deep house, but his OTR mix sees him going back to his roots in deep house. Keeping things uptempo and funky Ian delivers up an excellent journey through the sounds of deep house. The sounds range from soulful and jazzy to tech and loungey, creating a fluid mix with a flexible vibe. Staying true to the nature of deep house this mix tethers on a climax but restrains itself with a comfortable uplifting vibe throughout. Ian really showcases the best of the genre and his own mixing skills in this one.

Off The Record - Volume #017 - mixed by Tommy Takeover

Off The Record - Volume #017
mixed by Tommy Takeover

Time for a genre-defying mix out of Scotland. Tommy Takeover delivered this bass heavy mix which starts with d&b, bass, takes a detour through tech/fidget/acid house with mash-up of breaks and electro in there too, before taking things back to bass. The style of mixing throughout is intense & sharp, mixing a huge amount of genres together perfectly. Generally dabbling in everything from techno to reggae in his sets Tommy Takeover puts these genres together as if there meant to be. A unique quality listen from start to finish.

Off The Record - Volume #016 - mixed by Nubus

Nubus is a dj/producer with a very distinctive take on drum & bass. He's preparing to release his newest EP 'A Broken Drum' this Monday, but thankfully found the time to compile this exclusive mix made up entirely of his own productions for us. His sound draws in everything from jungle, to ambient & electronica, but overall is rooted in d'n'b. Overall this mix makes for an eclectic listen, with contrasting sounds/styles mixed together seamlessly, Nubus really does create his own unique vibe. Certainly one of the Irish dj/producers that you'll be hearing a lot more from in the future.
